I tuned in to the Golden Globes last night only to watch Ricky Gervais. Other than that, it was a pretty annoying show. Have you ever noticed that Hollywood loves to honor itself? It’s insane. They have countless award shows to say who did the best during the prior year. Why? Who cares what the foreign press thinks was the best soundtrack of any film last year? Why don’t they just publish their thoughts in their papers? Because the celebs need to have one giant circle jerk, that’s why!
Which takes me back to Ricky. Almost every joke he said involved the need for celebrities to engage in self-congratulatory masturbation a few times a year. I loved it when he referred to Natalie Portman’s year off from film (which wasn’t really a year off), mockingly saying how crazy it was to put family ahead of career.
Oh, and as for Seth Rogen saying that he had an erection because he was standing next to Kate Beckinsale…that wasn’t as funny as they made it seem. Only Hollywood people would laugh that hard at a joke like that.
